Diet Goal

2006-12-19 星期二

Ah Bao invited me to WBG on 7 Dec and did a health screening and i was so shock to find my health is in such a bad shape.  As such, on that same day, it just came to me to make a decision!

A decision that I had never thought that I would make one day.

I decided to go as much as possible vegetarian.

Yes,  Vegetable as much as possible.  After being a meat eater for last 38 years, off-balance diet, it’s point of time for me to take good care of my body.  My body is giving me signal an design which I have been ignoring for last few many years.

I used to make fun of those who vegetarians and now I realized that I was wrong and I own them a apology.  So, to all my friends out there, SORRY that I make fun of you.  I should respect you and know that you are taking good care of your health which I was not.  SORRY again! (more…)

Devotion - Productivity and Purpose

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart… it
is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians
3:23-24

IN WORD

Surveys indicate that more than half of employees are
dissatisfied with their work situation. Much of that
is human nature: In our eyes, the grass is always
greener somewhere else. But the issue goes deeper than
a general, natural discontentment. We want to know
that our work matters and many people come to the
conclusion that theirs does not.

It is easier to find meaning in some jobs than others
but nearly all have an apparent pointlessness in one
or more areas. Whether our work is as predictable as
an assembly line, as impressive as a political or
economic power trip, or simply as profound as raising
children and managing a family, we often have a deep
seated desire to be more, to do more, to see more
results. Deep down, we want to be important. (more…)

Money sense for Marina

2006-12-04 星期一

(This is a back-date posting for 9 Nov 2006)

Marina is 5 years old and in her k2 this year.  She had a tuck shop session from 6 Nov - 9 Nov in her school.  So, we given her 80cents each day so that she can “experience” buying and responsible for her own money.

We knew from last year experience, that she will spend her money on useless toys rather than food, so we reminded her not to “waste” her money.  She should feed her own tummy first rather than toys or color pencil or stickers.

She came back on the first day happily telling us that she did not “waste” her money on useless toys or stickers…we were pretty proud and gone through with her spending.  We found out that she spent 40cents on chicken wing and 15cents on drinks.  however, she left with zero cents in her wallets.  So, we asked her to tell us where is her 25cents gone to.  So she told us that one of her classmates asked her for money and she gladly given to her.  We told her that is not the right things to do and told her that she should not give money to others simply.  We suspected that she learnt it from us as she think the weekend donations to charity is similar to her “donation” to friends.  We had to explain to her the differences and hope that she knows the different.

During dinner, I was wondering if I should ask her to ask the money back from the girl or raise this issue to the school teacher.  I felt it’s not the matter of 25cents but it is the principal that we want our girl to understand: (more…)
