A $500,000 life
Read this news last week that a young man was so broke that he throw himself off the MRT track and killed himself. The shocking part was his wife could not affort to take public to see his body in hospital. As such, after the news was published, many good-hearted people started to send in donation for the victim family.
The donation flown in and within a week, she have gotten over $500,000. So, she have enough for the funeral and for her son’s studies. She mentioned that she will donate $100,000 to charity and save the rest of the money. Again, people begin to questions how could she have such a large sum of money. Some fund-manager mentioned that she should hand over her money for ‘experienced’ fund-manager.
My thoughts was, why wait till some tragic before we can show our compassionate action? On the other hand, if he did not kill himself and if he walked up to one of his friends or stranger, will anyone offer to help him and in total still getting that $500,000? It’s so ironical!Â
I rememberd a few months ago, after I were out of debts, while I was having lunch with Kim, came an old lady selling tissues. I turned her down and continued with our lunch. Then another came and I still turn her down. Then another came, and this time, she begged me to buy only 1 pack instead of the usual 3. I still refused and I had the most terrible lunch in my life!
The next day, I had lunch with Mary, the top AIA financial planner, and out of the blue, she told me that she will not walk away from someone selling tissues or donation. She said she was blessed and she could affort this small amount of “donation” Despite if it may not be geniue, but what if it is true. She could have help not only 1 life, but a few! I was so ashamed of myself.Â
On that Sat, when I went to Novena, the priest was sharing about charity as well and at night, the priest’s homily in the mass, was touching on the same topics as well. I know GOD is trying to tell me something: hey, look, you are out of debts. So, now, try to help others.
From that day onwards, i will not walk away from anyone who needs such small help, as long as I could affort it.
Yesterday, while reading a life-story about a millionaire, he mentioned that one of his goal is to do sky-diving. He was very excited on the day of diving. HOwever, when he was in the plane 100,000 ft above ground, he begin to question himself how on earth people with the right mind will such a dangerous sports. Especially, he is rich, young and yet, before the jump, he needed to sign an death-note declaring that the company shall not be responsibility in the event if some mis-hap happened.Â
Just as he was thinking to quit, the instructor push him out of the plane and he was free-falling in mid-air. At that instant, his life flash through his eye… when the parachute opened, suddenly, he felt LIFE is GOOD! He begin to appreciate life and he draw an conclusion: Any one who wished to end their life, should find ways to go for a sky-diving. Then once they landed safety, they can decide if they still want to end that way. Life is so beautiful and good!
I’m not showing disrespect to the MRT victim, but rather, if really of any reasons, anyone who wish to end their life, should go to borrow or beg or get some money, even with loan-shark and go for a sky-diving session. I know the nearest is our neighbour Malaysia. and if after the jump, still wanted to end their life, then, no harm, it’s Loan-shark’s money! However, if not, most likely, he will be a new leaf and will be more posibive and active towards life. He will be able to repay back and get on with life!
I WANT TO JUMP! Not because I am considering to end my life, but it’s just one of my goals! I look forward to the day when i leap off the plane and enjoy the free falling and review through my life in a flash and appreciate the whole experience!
GOD bless the souls!
